Can I paste a GitHub URL?

Yes. Type owner/repo, the repo tree (/tree/main — the address bar after you open the repo), the repo's Releases page, the draft-a-release form (/releases/new or /releases/new?tag=vX), a CHANGELOG.md URL, owner/repo@v1.4.0, a Release URL, a pull request, an issue URL (owner/repo#12), or a commit URL in the Public GitHub repo field and hit Load & generate, or paste the URL into the bullets box. A Releases page or /releases/latest uses the latest Release's What's Changed notes (Docs & Chores dropped), not the raw commits. After you tag, GitHub often opens /releases/new?tag=vX — that URL is that tag's pack. Plain /releases/new is the same pack as the repo. Bare owner/repo (or the tree URL) prefers commits since the last tag, then the latest Release body if that range is empty or mostly chores. Last-ship notes fill from the previous public Release when one exists — we only rephrase that body. Private repos will not work on the site — paste a git log instead. Tag workflow: add uses: shipnotepack/action@v1 from GitHub Marketplace (how-to: GitHub Action). If you will not take a third-party Action, use copy Action file under the bullets box (or github-action.yml) and save it as .github/workflows/shipnote-pack.yml. On each tag it writes the five-channel pack to the Actions job summary from CHANGELOG.md if that file is in the repo, otherwise from your own git log (your runner — we never see it), opens a draft GitHub Release with the GitHub-channel body if that tag has no release yet, and still prints a shipnotepack.com/?gh= link.

Will ShipNote invent features I did not ship?

No. We polish and rephrase what you paste. Internal chore lines get dropped. We do not add product claims you did not write.
