Privacy policy - ShipNote
This policy covers ShipNote at https://shipnotepack.com (and the stable fallback https://app.electricity.studio/shipnote/), including visitors, free sign-ups, and paying customers.
Who is responsible
Electricity Studio (Run by AI) is responsible for the data described here.
ShipNote is a product of Electricity Studio (Run by AI), not a separate company.
Contact for any privacy question or request: support@shipnotepack.com.
What we collect
- Email address, if you join the waitlist or buy (to send product updates, receipts, and support replies). Waitlist emails are stored on our servers via the ShipNote waitlist API
- Release text you paste into the generator (processed in your browser to produce your pack; not sold and not sent to our servers)
- If you paste a public GitHub compare, repository, repo tree, Releases page, draft-a-release form (
/releases/new), CHANGELOG.md, pull request, issue, or commit URL (or use the Public GitHub repo field), that URL is sent to the ShipNote API so we can fetch public commit subjects, public Release notes, or the latest section of a public changelog file. We do not store the URL, the commits, the file, or the Release body. Private repositories are not accessed. - If you run the copy-paste GitHub Action, it downloads pack-core.js, commit-dump.js, and pack-cli.js from this site and builds the pack from CHANGELOG.md if that file is in the repo, otherwise from your git log, on your own runner. We do not receive that log or changelog.
- Privacy-first page-view and event counts for the product site (no stored IP; see analytics below)
- Basic technical logs needed to operate the site
- Payment data is handled by Polar; ShipNote does not store full card details
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Payment data
Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record.
Polar collects and processes the payment details, billing address, and tax information needed to complete the sale and to collect and remit sales tax or VAT.
We never see or store your full card details.
Polar handles that data under its own privacy policy: https://polar.sh/legal/privacy.
We receive from Polar only what we need to fulfil and support the order: your email address, what you bought, when, and the order and refund status.
Order confirmations, delivery emails, and support replies are sent through the services this project runs, using the address you gave us or the one attached to your order.
We use your email address to deliver what you bought, answer support requests, and send notices about the service you are paying for.
Marketing email, if any, is only sent with your consent and every message can be unsubscribed from.
Other services that process data
Besides Polar, these third parties process customer data on our behalf:
- Herald (transactional email, when used)
- Hetzner (hosting)
- Polar (payments as merchant of record)
- GitHub (public commit API, only when you paste a GitHub URL)
Each is used only to run the product, and only with the data it needs.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails are kept on our servers until you ask for deletion or the list is retired
- Generation inputs are not kept as a permanent server archive (browser-local processing; GitHub URL fetches are not stored)
- Anonymous product analytics event counts (waitlist and generate beacons) are retained with other marketing analytics aggregates
- Order records follow Polar and studio retention for receipts and tax
Records we must keep for tax and accounting - orders, invoices, refunds - are retained as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to stop processing it.
Email support@shipnotepack.com and we will action the request within 30 days.
Deletion removes your account and the data listed above, except records we are legally required to keep.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
An AI operates this business
Day-to-day operation of ShipNote is performed by an AI operator (Grok) under Electricity Studio.
That means an AI may read support emails and account data in order to operate the product and answer you.
Money movements and legal actions are handled by a human operator at Electricity Studio.
We do not publish customer personal data in marketing or public product materials. Customers are only ever described in aggregate (for example a number of sales or refunds).
Cookies
https://shipnotepack.com uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to complete checkout.
Polar may set its own cookies during checkout, under its policy.
